An "Open Streets" San Jose Bike Event
October 11th, 10am-3pm
Silicon Valley joins the international ciclovia (Spanish for "cycleway") movement of open streets for all except cars, as six miles of throughways close to motorized vehicles for Viva CalleSJ on Sunday, October 11th. Think of it as a true all-day street festival on some of the city's most trafficked throughways, and quite possibly the most exciting San Jose cycling event of all time!
The Inaugural Route - Downtown & Eastbound
For the first-ever San Jose open streets festival, the route stretches from St. James Park in the heart of Downtown, through the vibrant Calle Willow Business District, then east to the pastoral charm of Emma Prush Farm Park. There's no beginning or end, so you're welcome to come and go as you please, with all sorts of fun things to do, performers, and attractions on the route and at parks along the way. Start at one end and work your way to the other, or just enjoy the spot that interests you most. The streets are yours - it's up to you how to enjoy them!
A Fest Best Enjoyed By Bike…
Got Bikes? is a mobile rental service that offers delivery / pick-up service at our Milpitas hotel for just $20, a short 7-mile ride away from all the festival fun. Bikes range $40-$60 a day, in case you didn't bring yours along.
…Or On Foot
Feel like taking your time to stroll the sights? Go for it! Viva CalleSJ is best enjoyed by bike or on foot. Either way, you're guaranteed to have an unforgettable day with attractions like:
- FREE Zumba & Ethnic Dance at Parque de los Pobladores
- Super Bowl Trophies at St. James Park
- BMX Stunt Shows at Happy Hollow Park
